Crowdfunding for Reversible Destiny Lofts Mitaka
Shusaku Arakawa and Madeline Gins have been pursuing the idea of Reversible Destiny through their works. As an architectural design firm, we have been involved from the planning stage of “Reversible Destiny Lofts Mitaka,” the world’s first housing complex inspired by the concept of these two artists. It has faced a severe decline in the number of occupants due to the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, just as the building was scheduled for a major renovation 15 years after its completion. To “reverse the destiny” of this building, a crowdfunding is thus underway. Architecture has the power to exert both physical and psychological effects on its occupants, as evidenced by the distinguished list of occupants of this housing complex. I am hereby crowdfunding on behalf of those who wish to preserve the exceptional housing, an embodiment of such power and the artist’s philosophy, as a historical building for the next generation.
