DigitalThe Benefits of Using BIM Learned from the Demonstration Project
This is a report on how the use of BIM can contribute to companies and, more importantly, to our society, as verified by the demonstration project undertaken by three firms, Yasui Architects, Nippon Kanzai, and ABC Trading.
2 From the Perspective of Operation
Temperature, humidity and CO₂ emissions change on a daily basis, and energy loss is likely to occur if air conditioning equipment is controlled based solely on human senses. Since people sense temperature and humidity differently, there are still some issues to be solved to achieve fully automatic control. However, it has been verified that energy savings can be realized over the medium to long term if building operations are appropriately managed through the use of BIM.
Since the Covid-19 Pandemic, companies have been developing a trend of using both real and virtual spaces. For example, in the case of showrooms where the number of visitors is now restricted due to infection control measures, it is possible to set up a place in a virtual space in a short time at a low cost if only data has been input into BIM from the design phase in anticipation of the future need for virtuality.
As the global situation reminds us that resources are finite, the movement to use both real and virtual resources in building operations according to their purpose will accelerate in the future.
