EnvironmentZEB 3 Yamatotakada City Hall, Yamatotakada City Council
Yamatotakada City Hall in Nara became the first government building in the prefecture to receive the ZEB Ready status following BELS’s highest 5-star certification.
To minimize its environmental impact, the City Hall is designed to utilize various energy-saving materials, such as Low-e glass, and systems including high-efficiency air-conditioning and rainwater harvesting & recycling systems for bathrooms and landscaping.
The multi-purpose space on the first floor and the roundly shaped civic salon were both constructed with locally harvested lumber, rendering a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Accordion-fold glass doors allow indoor and outdoor areas to be used as one integrated space. This civic building, designed with accessibility in mind, has become a popular local event venue.
We will continue our survey at 533 different points, such as electricity, gas, water usage as well as temperature and humidity, until March 2024 to verify the operational performance of the ZEB building and to further improve environmental practices.
