Our approach to using timber in architecture goes beyond structural or finishing material. By encouraging diverse, demand-driven uses of forest resources, we aim to achieve “circular use of timber” as a beginning to nurture the next generation of forest environments.
To realize this “circular use of timber,” we take on the role of coordinator—connecting stakeholders across the entire supply chain, from forest to construction site.
When proposing new ways to use wood in practice, we start by researching local forest conditions and manufacturing capacity. This helps us explore region-specific possibilities for timber use, beyond just technical innovation or material application.
Based on this groundwork, we evaluate species, origin, volume, processing methods, and structural potential to find the best solutions for both the project and the local community.
Additionally, we put emphasis on branding—ensuring the building becomes a source of pride for the local forestry industry once construction is complete. As an architectural design firm, it is an important part of our mission to pass on the unique values and features of regional forestry—gained through the project—to the final users. Through this process, we serve as a trigger of engagement in forest environments and forestry.
By coordinating all aspects of timber use, we contribute to regenerating forest ecosystems through architecture.
