ZEB 1 Hisamitsu Museum
Hisamitsu Seiyaku Museum is a project launched by Hisamitsu Pharmaceutical Co., Inc. in 2017 to commemorate its 170th anniversary. The museum building features a distinctive aesthetic quality resulting from the Italian sculptor Cecco Bonanotte’ s unique design concept. It became the first building in Saga to acquire a complete ZEB (Net Zero Energy Building) certification.
To acquire the complete ZEB status, we employed numerous technologies and materials, including high-performance thermal insulation on the roof and the exterior, fully LED lighting with an automatic dimming system equipped with daylight sensors, Low-E double glazing, multi-split air conditioning, photovoltaic power generation using high-efficiency solar panels, efficient operation programming of BEMS and various environmental sensors. The ZEB-related numbers recorded during the first year of the building’s use indicated that the energy consumption rate was lower and the energy generation rate was higher than the designed targets. The energy conservation rate marked 115%, which is greater than the BELS certification’s required value of 103%, resulting in a substantial reduction in operating costs.
This fully-ZEB project has become a beacon to enlighten people within and outside the company about CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility).
