Practicing biophilic design
In 2021, Yasui Architects & Engineers established two in-house organizations, the Task Force Team (TFC) and the Driving Force Team (DFC). These are like “clubs” within the company. The “biophilic design team” started in the previous office and actively participated at the “Mitoshiro Creative District”.
The biophilic design team gathers plant-loving members who kick-started independent research activities, including creating a green laboratory in the office, sharing pet plants, and holding a mint party as a “plant-eating experience.”
Indoor greening is also implemented in the new office, including on the first basement floor and the rooftop terrace shared with other tenant companies.
How does the greenery office influence employees’ physical and mental health? We will return the insights from the experiments to our future designs.
