Energy-saving performance achieved through insulation
Inuyama City Hashigo Nursery School, a Full ZEB nursery building, achieves excellent environmental performance despite the structural constraints of a single-story design, which is typically disadvantageous in terms of thermal load. One of the key factors behind this success is insulation technology.
To significantly improve the thermal insulation performance of the entire building, external insulation was applied to the external walls and roof. Furthermore, the use of deep eaves and Low-E double-glazed glass helps to reduce the ingress of solar heat, thereby contributing to a reduction in the air-conditioning load.
In particular, in the communal areas, which have a large air space per person and expansive glass surface, wood-aluminium composite sashes (high-insulation sashes) have been installed. This ensures natural lighting while maintaining visibility throughout the building whilst minimizing heat loss and gain.
In addition, in playrooms and common areas that are not in constant use, high-level windows incorporating a natural ventilation system have been installed. By actively bringing in natural wind, a comfortable indoor environment is maintained.
Furthermore, earth tubes (geothermal utilization) have been incorporated into the ventilation equipment, by utilizing the stable temperature of the ground to improve ventilation efficiency and energy savings.
