Design Dialogue

Designing buildings is, at its core, about engaging in meaningful dialogue. It is through these conversations that the narrative of a structure begin to take shape. By gathering and interweaving the diverse aspirations of individuals and communities, architecture begins to take its form.

Inuyama City Hashigo Nursery School

Inuyama City Hashigo Nursery School

The first childcare facility built in Aichi Prefecture’s Inuyama City in nearly 40 years, this project is set in a rural landscape surrounded by rice fields. Conceived as a single-storey “secret base,” its distinctive form is easily recognizable from afar. Semi-outdoor terrace link the inner courtyard and playground, creating clear sightlines that support safe and attentive supervision. Daylight streams in through high-side windows, shaping a bright, open environment. The building also achieved full ZEB status, becoming the first in the Tokai region and the third nationwide.
Hotel Indigo Nagasaki Glover Street

Hotel Indigo Nagasaki Glover Street

This project breathes new life into a historic red-brick building with nearly 130 years of history, transforming it into a luxury hotel. Hybrid seismic reinforcement made it possible to restore the cathedral’s culturally significant elements, such as stained glass and rib-vaulted ceilings, as closely as possible to their original state. Designed as a place where one can experience the true spirit of Nagasaki, the hotel exudes a presence and atmosphere, unlike modern properties, defined by its deep sense of history and character.
