One Layer From the First to the Third Floor

Our Tokyo office “Mitoshiro Creative District” resides on the first to the third floor of the building. Upon the relocation, we had an idea to create a space with a sense of integration of the three large floors, because the ground floor (1F) is connected to the city and the previous office was divided into nine floors.

The idea was realized by the internal stairways and atriums on each floor, which is rare in office spaces. The internal stairway and the atriums not only connect the three floors vertically and horizontally but also bring in natural light, creating a sense of openness in the office where one can feel the presence and glance of others.

In our new office, where the direction of one’s movement has changed from “vertical” to “horizontal,” the walking distance of the employees has increased by about 25%, and their well-being has also improved. The office space is holistically connected by the internal stairway and atriums, which opens up the atmosphere within the company.
