A design office with no president or executive rooms
The new office has adopted a free address system.
Architecture firms typically work on a project basis. Almost a year since the relocation, many staff have experienced the benefits of an environment where team members from the same project can gather closely and communicate more easily.
With the introduction of a free address system, there are things disappeared from our office. “How can we foster an environment that promotes open dialogues among staff, irrespective of role hierarchy?” After much internal debate leading up to the relocation, we decided not to have president or executive rooms in the new office.
The fifth floor—previously the president’s office and executive rooms—was a place to “visit.” However, the president is now seen in different places in the new office, making it easier to talk to him. This is a significant change.
Furthermore, in the new office, the furniture is movable so that teams can gather or disperse as they wish, depending on the project, further evolving the free address system.
