Rinku Nagayama Hospital

This is a project for a hospital specialized in rehabilitation, located on the south of Rinku Town station. Since the site is right in front of the station, an exterior deck was designed and built for a direct access from the ticket gate of the station to the 2nd floor level of the hospital. The entrance hall welcomes visitors in an airy double-height void space, with interior designed to expose the materials used such as stones. Natural light is brought in from high side lights and a curtain wall, making the space serene and user-friendly. In the ward section, a single room is provided for each bed considering the environment for recuperation and privacy. Five rooms are regarded as one unit of multiple-beds in order to realize nursing care closely engaged with patients, which also contributes to improved working environment for medical staffs. Flows of staffs and patients are clearly separated on the floor plan, with some room left for future expansion of the building to extend the hospital functions.
