A complex consisting of a consolidated junior high school, a child and youth support center, a library, and an education center. Nakano City is characterized by its multinational residents and culture, large and small signboard architecture, and high-rise buildings. The design motif of books and bookshelves are scattered throughout the facility to express the “diversity” and “accumulation of knowledge.” At the site adjacent to a residential area and Yamate-dori Avenue, an urban facility was realized with a floor composition, layout/floor plan, and apertures that were designed in consideration for the educational environment, privacy, and environmental impact of the structure (west exposure to the sun).
