Yamatotakada City Hall, Yamatotakada City Council

A new city hall for the citizens’ “flourishing and lively happiness”

The new city hall was intended to become “a hub of the town for citizens to live active lives.” A two-story void with a stage is integrated in the waiting lobby, enabling use of indoor and outdoor spaces as one. To create a space for people to gather, perform activities and express themselves, we designed it in a warm taste using wood from the local prefecture, realizing a city hall loved by the people. Regarding environmental technologies, we actively use natural energies in the building, including solar power, natural light, and recycled rainwater. We also introduced energy-saving technologies such as high-efficiency air conditioning system and LED lights, consequently achieving ZEB Ready status by reducing primary energy consumption by 55% compared to the standard.
