This project used a PFI business to rebuild the Aichi Prefecture Small and Medium Enterprise Center, which stood in front of Nagoya Station. The program applied a comprehensive design system in unity with the adjacent Chukei Building, to develop a new one-stop service center for industrial promotion, consisting of Aichi Prefecture Small and Medium Enterprise Center, Industrial Trade Center, and Kinro Kaikan. The basement level is linked to the Shin-Chukei Building and developed as a street of bars and restaurants, and we provided through paths to raise ease of circulation, so that the first floor would form a good city-center district. The second floor has an 800-seat hall, there is a small hall on the fifth floor, floors six through eight have exhibition rooms, and floors nine through 13 have rental meeting rooms. These facilities enable the building to stage all kinds of events, meetings, and the like. Floors 14 through 18 house the offices of prefecture-related organizations. We made the lowrise portion the opening for giving a feeling of lively activity, while the highrise portion has a checkered pattern to give the image of yarn spinning. With these elements, the exterior gives an industrious and symbolic impression in front of Nagoya Station.
