This is a plan for an exhibition hall as a new center for disseminating information, at the birthplace of Osaka Gas. “When people and gas come together they generate warmth. They generate the future.” With this slogan, we aimed to create a new yet nostalgic building which would allow people and gas to “hug” each other, while also being an environmental building, kind to the Earth. We aimed to integrate environmental planning with architectural planning elements, using building layout to suppress air conditioning loads, combining wall ducts with metals cladding panels and building walls to express advanced modernity, using wood for louvers, and planting wall foliage. This project is part of the construction of a “Smart Energy Network” for this area, which includes power generation optimized with gas cogeneration, and distribution of waste heat from cogeneration facilities to existing heating equipment. In addition, this project includes the construction of a “Smart Energy Network” to express Osaka Gas’s energy efforts at its birthplace. These efforts include solar-heated air conditioning, energy visualization, and heightening energy security in the event of a disaster. This building has been adopted as a Model Project for Promoting CO₂ Reduction in Housing and Buildings by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. It also earned an S rank from CASBEE Osaka Mirai.
