Hiratsuka Hall of Arts and Culture, Mitsukedai Park

A cultural and creative exchange center with the theme of “discovery”

This is part of a serial project for the city of Hiratsuka (PRE Project) including Hiratsuka Hall of Arts and Culture, a park, and commercial facilities. The site faces the former Hiratsuka-juku on the old Tokaido Road. Drawing from the name of the area, Mitsuke-dai (“mitsuke” means “to find”), the hall aims to be a hub for finding interesting people and activities in Hiratsuka, also characterized by its integrated use with the vast, grassy park. The continuous lobby and foyer are interspersed with various rooms (boxes) and furniture to provide a familiar and comfortable place for the citizens.
