Toyohashi Health Clinic, Health Center, and Children’s Mental and Physical Development Center, PFI

“Minna no Mori” (Everyone’s Forest) keeps on growing

A PFI project developed a health clinic, health center, out-of-hours clinic and children’s development center for Toyohashi City. Buildings on two levels surround the lawn in an L shape, with a restaurant, entrance, and lecture hall arranged along the public participation mall. The easily legible flow plan links the mall, which is the main movement route, with the entrances to each zone, the stairs, and the elevators. The mall, open to the lawn, is unified with an information corner and gallery, and enthusiastic civic activities spread out through sympathetic interactions with lawn users. The design makes the play facilities, benches and interiors along the mall continuous, so that the operations of the health clinic are linked with mother and child health checkups and the child development center, and are easier to use. With the concept of “making spaces where parents and children can interact,” we decorated spaces with fun and familiar animal graphics in a plan to make people aware of the linkages.
