Tokyo Metropolitan Kouhoku High School

This is a renovation of a Tokyo Metropolitan high school aimed for a “noble prep school” that appeals to the community. The new education facility is compactly organized in the center of the site, avoiding the underneath subway line and the adjacent Ayase river. Flood control and liquefaction measures were also thoroughly thought out. The front façade to the west is designed with “SQUARE” design code that expresses the self-initiative and excitement within a certain discipline suitable for a noble prep school. Library, study room, and PC room were planned to establish a center for self-learning, while courtyard and terrace enrich social communication space for students.
