The design features the natural textures of the materials used, such as local cedar wood and Ise roof tiles, emphasizing the building’s identity as a symbol of the city characterized by the culture of raw, unrefined beauty. The hospital was designed to accommodate three nursing units per floor to keep a low height, and the building’s exterior is segmented to match the scale of the surrounding cityscape. Within the vast facility are seven light courtyards and three rooftop gardens allocated effectively to bring in natural light, wind, and greenery, thus providing a bright and comfortable recuperating environment.
