Takashima City Hall

A municipal government office that achieves ZEB-Ready performance

This project added a new building and remodeled the existing main building to make municipal government office functions more convenient, and create a disaster prevention center that is resilient against all kinds of disaster. We also aimed to make it a sustainable facility, with the latest environmental technologies, and make these offices the new face of Takashima City.
The new building has strong seismic resistance performance and building services functions, to enable it to keep functioning as a disaster response center through all kinds of incidents. The main building is upgraded, with better linkage to the new building. In the exterior plan, we aimed for harmony across the offices as a whole, with a sense of unity between old and new in the eaves, cladding materials, and colors. The environmental and building services plan introduces the latest technologies, such as radiant air conditioning using the city’s abundant ground water, to become ZEB-Ready.
