It is a new station planned as the gateway to Yumeshima, an international tourism hub shaped by the Osaka-Kansai Expo and Integrated Resort (IR) development, with flexibility to accommodate various phases of urban development. The station’s design concept is the “Theater of Transitioning World.” By expressing the “diversity of life revealed through movement” and “a future woven by Japan’s culture and technology,” we have created “a station that celebrates the joy of mobility, living as a movement.” It is unique to the Osaka Metro which has been running in tandem with the city. The concourse and platform levels are covered by an “origami ceiling,” taking inspiration from the precision and technological excellence of Japan’s railway operation diagram and the traditional art of origami. The origami ceiling softly mirrors the movement of all the diverse people passing through, enhanced by a synchronized spatial effect with a 55-meter digital display and gateway lighting that ushers visitors into another world. We hope that the station will bring wonder and discovery to all who visit and be cherished by the people, alongside the city, for the next 100 years.
