Tokyo International Airport Terminal 3

A hub airport linking regional cities with overseas destinations

In the offshore extension of Haneda Airport, we took the design theme of “Land” for Terminal 1 and “Sea” for Terminal 2. Following that theme, we adopted image of “Air” as the main theme for the Terminal 3 (old name : International Passenger Terminal) that was built together with the runway extension. Using simple zoning and flow planning, we applied universal design thoroughly, reduced environmental loads, and applied exhaustive security and disaster prevention measures, as befits the latest facility that reflects Asia in the world. The main building portion was expanded and a satellite added to the north, to expand into a facility able to handle 12.5 million people a year in daytime hours, up from 7 million. A hotel was planned, available for use by transit passengers. These and other measures reinforced the functions of a hub airport that connects regional cities with overseas destinations.
