Update to modern functions while preserving a clean design

We applied seismic reinforcement without constraining exhibition functions, while striking a balance between innovation and carrying on the “clean design” of the original design by Yoshiro Taniguchi for the building, which opened in 1968. We installed display cases based on the latest exhibition planning and preservation and display techniques, and improved the performance of the repository, as well as adopting a ceiling system, lighting technology, and other elements that raise the flexibility of the exhibition spaces. We added new elevators while maintaining the existing skip floor composition, and thoroughly applied universal design in the toilets and elsewhere.
