The exterior uses gently arcing planes and aluminum louvers that control sunlight, in an expression of dignity and elegance for a women’s school. We proposed a two-level atrium space in the middle of a group of ordinary classrooms. The aim of this feature was to make the lively activities of the pupils and teachers spill over into interior and exterior spaces, and to make a comfortable, open-feeling space with an awareness of its connection with the school yard, as a relaxed spatial composition that fosters communication. To reduce the burden on the local environment, we aimed to create spaces with unified interior and exterior sides, so that the use and control of natural lighting and ventilation would let occupants feel the light and air movement even in interior spaces.
