City Tower Takanawa

It is difficult to discuss the characteristics of a large-scale city center project in terms of just “city center location” and “super high-rise.” As increasing numbers of large developments are specializing in residential functions that use location benefits, due to the positioning of residential towers in multi-purpose developments, there is unprecedented demand for proposals for residential environment designs with deep connections to their surrounding environments. Following the general design that was an essential condition for making this project viable, we worked to create footpath-type spaces and plazas together with the shallow-depth tower along the road, and used a greenery and arcades to make spaces suitable for the street scenery at each location. For urban residents, obtaining greenery and security are essential themes. Therefore, we formed private living space by providing a minimally-designed security fence, which we placed on the inner side of the masonry retaining wall and green space, out of concern for the surrounding environment.
